This is what we do and the impact we have
After 8 years of incapacity benefits after losing his job due to chronic fatigue syndrome which progressed into a loss of confidence and depression, George met Shirlie Project:
“They instilled confidence and focused on my life skills, not qualifications.
It made me feel part of something and gave me confidence to speak as part of a group. Shirlie Project gave me advice and one-to-one help to apply for a job, helping me to produce an excellent CV which focused on my life skills and experience.
I’m glad to say that I’ve passed my first year of employment and am out of the difficulties I was in.“
About our Bigger Picture Programme
Being a programme for the young people is for me a big part of its success.
All too often we have Solution Focused meetings and Transition meetings about the young people and although there is every effort made to get the young people involved I never really feel we get there in the way that we should.
The Bigger Picture allows the pupils to take more ownership of their plan and even give them the confidence to be able to talk and be part of meetings with a better understanding of pathways that might be ahead’.
